When should you NOT get Botox or other neuromodulator treatment?
You should not get Botox or Xeomin or other neuromodulator treatment if you have any of the following:

• If you have allergy to any of the ingredients in Botox, Xeomin or Dysport


• If you have a medical condition that affects your muscles and or nerves


• If you are currently Pregnancy or think you may be pregnant


• If you are currently breast feeding


• If you have an active skin infection of the intended treatment area

Active bacterial, viral or fungal skin infection of the area to be treated can lead to local or systemic spread with use of a needle for injections. You should have the skin infection treated by your Physician with the appropriate anti-bacterial, anti-viral or anti-fungal agent as indicated at your Physicians discretion and wait for all signs and symptoms of the infection to be completely resolved before making your appointment for Botox cosmetic treatment.

IPL FotoFacial, Photorejuvenation or Photofacial
IPL is short for Intense Pulsed Light, and is considered one of the most advanced and widely performed non invasive anti-aging skin treatments. IPL photo-rejuvenation or FotoFacial is performed by firing intense pulsed light onto the skin surface to target different skin structures. The different types of IPL filters can be used to improve or eliminate different types of skin problems such as broken capillaries, rosacea, sun spots, age spots, freckles and blemishes.

Overview of CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing at our Dallas Skincare Office

The CO2 laser resurfacing traditionally has been the gold standard for laser skin resurfacing for all signs of facial aging,rough texture, fine and deep wrinkles, loss of skin tone and elasticity. The downside of CO2 laser is the discomfort during the procedure requiring this procedure to be performed under general anesthesia or heavy sedation and a very prolonged (6 week) recovery time. The traditional CO2 laser can only be used to treat the face, and is not suitable for neck, chest or back of hands.
The Fractional CO2 laser is the latest cutting edge and revolutionary laser technology which keeps many of the advantages of the traditional CO2 laser, with huge benefits of far less discomfort (performed with topical anesthetic creme only) and much shorter downtime (4-5 days) The CO2 fractional laser can be safely used to treat the photo-damaged skin of neck, chest and back of hands in addition to face. The CO2 fractional laser treatment can significantly improve skin sun spots, freckles, , pores and induce skin tightening as well.

Difference between IPL Photorejuvenation and and CO2 Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatments

IPL is not the same as laser skin treatments because unlike laser, IPL uses a very bright burst of broad-spectrum light through a wide treatment head, placed on the surface of skin. The wavelength of the IPL is selected according to the skin type and the skin concerns of the individual treated. The intense pulsed light specifically targets brown pigment in the sun spots , age spots or freckes and the red pigment in the broken capillaries and rosacea without affecting the superficial layer of the skin (the epidermis).

The following are the most salient differences between IPL and laser skin resurfacing

IPL causes less discomfort than the CO2 fractional laser skin resurfacing and does not require topical anesthetic creme before the treatment.
IPL does not remove or peel away the surface of skin
IPL has less recovery time than the CO2 fractional laser. Most people can apply makeup and go right back to their busy schedules. Laser resurfacing requires 3-5 days of skin healing and downtime
IPL requires 4-6 sessions for best results, Laser resurfacing with CO2 Fractional laser requires one treatment only
