When Should You Not Get Dermal Filler Treatment?

You should not get Cosmetic Dermal Filler treatment if you have any of the following:

• If you have allergy to any of the ingredients in the cosmetic dermal fillers. We use one or a combination of the following cosmetic dermal fillers, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC, Juvederm Ultra XC, Radiesse, Restylane or Belotero dermal fillers depending on the area being treated.


• If you are currently Pregnant or think you may be pregnant


• If you have an active skin infection of the intended treatment area


• If you experienced an adverse affect following a prior treatment with cosmetic dermal fillers, please do let us know at the time of your consultation.


Active bacterial, viral or fungal skin infection of the area to be treated can lead to local or systemic spread with use of a needle for injections. You should have the skin infection treated by your Physician with the appropriate anti-bacterial, anti-viral or anti-fungal agent as indicated at your Physicians discretion and wait for all signs and symptoms of the infection to be completely resolved before making your appointment for cosmetic dermal filler treatment.

Before Your Dermal Filler Treatment.
We recommend that if you can, avoid any medications that can cause thinning of blood and prolong bleeding. These medications include aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) such as Ibuprofen, naproxen, vitamin E for at least one week prior to getting the treatment for wrinkles in order to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

After your Dermal Filler Treatment:
Avoid strenous physical activity and excessive alcohol consumption for 24 hours after the injection treatment. Fresh pineapple and fresh citrus fruit helps with reduction of bruising. You may take arnica pills by mouth to reduce the swelling and bruising accomapnied with dermal filler injections. Better management of chronic stress, wholesome diet rich in organic protein, fresh fruits and vegetables, moderate physical activity all lead to speedy recovery.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medication, which when injected into muscles, causes temporary relaxation of expressive wrinkles such as frown lines, smile lines, forehead lines and bunny lines. The effect of BOTOX® Cosmetic may last for 3-5 months, depending on the dose injected and the individual response. In our office we use BOTOX® Cosmetic for frown lines between brows and forehead, smile lines and bunny lines. We also use Botox for subtle "eyebrow Lift".

The key to our success with patient satisfaction for cosmetic dermal fillers is Dr. Malik's technique.

We use different types of FDA approved dermal fillers based on the area treated and patient's previous experience;

Juvederm and Restylane are made of Non Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid (NASHA) similar to hyaluronic acid naturally present in our bodies. These products do not need allergy testing prior to injection, produce natural looking results due there soft gel like consistency and last 7-9 months.

Radiesse is a novel filler, approved by FDA for cosmetic correction of facial wrinkles and folds in 2009. it is made of 30% Calcium Hydroxylapatite and 70% carrier gel. Radiesse does not need allergt testing before injection. Studies from 2008 suggest that Radiesse may stimulate production of your own skin collagen in addition to temporary filling effect of the gel. The results may last longer than 12 months.

A "Liquid Facelift" can be achieved with use of BOTOX and several FDA approved advanced dermal fillers for wrinkle reduction, facial volume restoration and reduction of jowls in individuals with mild facial sagging.

The trick with cosmetic dermal fillers, like all cosmetic treatments is to strive for a natural looking face and subtle improvement instead of aiming to get rid of every wrinkle and fold in the face which can lead to too much plumping of the face and an "over done" look.

It is imperative to take into account individual face shape and inject the dermal filler to enhance the natural facial contours of each individual. I like to be conservative in use of dermal fillers and BOTOX injections. My philosophy is to use less and re-evaluate in a week to consider a touch up if needed.

Radiesse is an advanced FDA-approved next generation dermal filler for injection below the skin for longer lasting results. Radiesse® has both immediate and long term results. Immediately, the water-based gel fills the wrinkles and restores the volume. As this gel begins to dissipate, the calcium-based microspheres, essentially, form a "scaffold", stimulating collagen production around this scaffold, leading to collagen growth around the treatment area for natural thickness of skin .

What exactly is Liquid Face Lift ?

Consider this, after age 40, we lose about 1 teaspoon of volume per year!
The lost volume is combination of fat below the skin, muscle, bone mass and thinning of skin itself!.. result... deep wrinkles, facial folds, sagging and ill defined facial contours

Filling in nasolabial folds, jowls and other lines around the mouth is a thing of the past! This approach leads to distortion of normal ideal face proportion by adding fullness to lower third of the face WITHOUT taking into account the Middle face.

Newer dermal filler injection techniques restore the lost volume in the middle face and leads to a subtle "lifting" of this area which by itself reduces the nasolabial folds, while keeping the right face proportion.
