When Should You Not Get Dermal Filler Treatment?

You should not get Cosmetic Dermal Filler treatment if you have any of the following:

• If you have allergy to any of the ingredients in the cosmetic dermal fillers. We use one or a combination of the following cosmetic dermal fillers, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC, Juvederm Ultra XC, Radiesse, Restylane or Belotero dermal fillers depending on the area being treated.


• If you are currently Pregnant or think you may be pregnant


• If you have an active skin infection of the intended treatment area


• If you experienced an adverse affect following a prior treatment with cosmetic dermal fillers, please do let us know at the time of your consultation.


Active bacterial, viral or fungal skin infection of the area to be treated can lead to local or systemic spread with use of a needle for injections. You should have the skin infection treated by your Physician with the appropriate anti-bacterial, anti-viral or anti-fungal agent as indicated at your Physicians discretion and wait for all signs and symptoms of the infection to be completely resolved before making your appointment for cosmetic dermal filler treatment.

We are excited to offer a new option for dermal fillers to our patients!

BELOTERO BALANCE® Dermal Filler has unique properties that allow it to adapt within the skin for soft and even correction. The versatility of the product makes it strong enough to handle deep treatment areas such as the nasolabial folds, yet soft enough to treat more delicate areas such as vertical lip lines, temples, tear troughs etc.

We have been using Belotero in our office for wrinkle treatments, and volume replenishment for our patients and have had excellent patient feedback and satisfaction with this new dermal filler.

One of the attributes that personally interested me is the fact that Belotero is a hyaluronic acid product which has been available and used extensively for several years giving it a pretty good track record for safety. I am not a fan of trying "new" products without examining the safety record of the products which is usually not available until many years after the product has been used widely. I also like the consistency of Belotero which allows for a more superficial injection without the "lumpy" appearance in vertical lines above the lip and in tear troughs.

We recommend that if you can, avoid any medications that can cause thinning of blood and prolong bleeding. These medications include aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs) such as Ibuprofen, naproxen, vitamin E for at least one week prior to getting the treatment for wrinkles in order to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

After your Dermal Filler Treatment:
Avoid strenous physical activity and excessive alcohol consumption for 24 hours after the injection treatment. Fresh pineapple and fresh citrus fruit helps with reduction of bruising. You may take arnica pills by mouth to reduce the swelling and bruising accomapnied with dermal filler injections. Better management of chronic stress, wholesome diet rich in organic protein, fresh fruits and vegetables, moderate physical activity all lead to speedy recovery.

Dallas Botox Treatments-Most serious Possible Side Effects of Botox Treatments

Rarely Botox treatment can be associated with serious side effects that can be life threatening. The serious problems with Botox are divided into two broad categories:

Swallowing and Breathing Difficulty
Spread of Toxin

There has not been a confirmed serious case of spread of toxin effect away from the injection site when BOTOX has been used at the recommended dose to treat chronic migraine, severe underarm sweating, blepharospasm or strabismus, or when BOTOX Cosmetic has been used at the recommended dose to treat frown lines

1. Problems with swallowing, speaking, or breathing:
These problems can happen hours, days, to weeks after an injection of BOTOX or BOTOX Cosmetic usually because the muscles that you use to breathe and swallow can become weak after the injection. Death can happen as a complication if you have severe problems with swallowing or breathing after treatment with BOTOX or BOTOX Cosmetic.

2. Spread of toxin effects:
In some cases, the effect of botulinum toxin may affect areas of the body away from the injection site and cause symptoms of a serious condition called botulism. The symptoms of botulism include:
• loss of strength and muscle weakness all over the body
• double vision
• blurred vision and drooping eyelids
• hoarseness or change or loss of voice (dysphonia)
• trouble saying words clearly (dysarthria)
• loss of bladder control
• trouble breathing
• trouble swallowing

The Less Serious Side effects of Botox

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medication, and like all prescription medications, should only be used under Physician supervision after patient evaluation. Although generally safe and well tolerated with proper patient selection and performed by a trained Physician, Botox treatments can have undesireable side effects and these can range from mild to severe side effects.
The milder side effects are more common than the serious side effects and include:
Bruising at injection site
discomfort or pain at the injection site
Dry mouth, tiredness, headache, neck pain
Eye problems: double vision, blurred vision, decreased eyesight, drooping eyelids, swelling of your eyelids, and dry eyes.
Although injection discomfort, bruising are the most common side effects, on occasion we have seen some of the side effects listed above in the countless treatments I have done over the last 10 years.
